Wedding Ceremony & Reception

When

23rd April 2022, 11:00 - 23:30

Where

Castello Bevilacqua, 50 Via Roma, Bevilacqua (VR), 37040, Italy

English / Inglese

Our ceremony and reception will be hosted in Castello Bevilacqua located in Veneto, the beautiful northern-eastern region of Italy. The castle is situated between Padua and Verona, 5 km from Montagnana, a stone's throw from Lisa's birthplace. Built in 14th century by the Bevilacqua family, the castle suffered considerable damage over the centuries in the numerous wars against the Venetian Republic and in the hands of the Austrians. It was restored to its current state in 1860 by Felicita Bevilacqua.

Italiano / Italian

La ceremonia e il ricevimento si terranno entrambi nella stessa location. La storia del castello si può trovare nel loro sito a https://www.castellobevilacqua.com/it/il-castello-bevilacqua/la-storia

From the UK
The drive is long from South-eastern England, but it is doable (we've done it before, and will do again for the wedding). To drive from Camberley takes about 15 hours, which can be one long drive if you share driving duties, or broken into a couple of days if you want to explore the beautiful Alps, the Black Forest, Alsace, etc.

Once in Italy (hire cars)
Car rental is available from the airports, booked in advance is affordable and undoubtedly the most convenient way to move around. This isn't Naples, driving in the north isn't too dissimilar to the UK, don't be put off!

From the UK
It is possible to take the train from London's St Pancras down to the venue. One may take the non-stop train from London to Paris (~2hr 15m), Paris to Turin (~5hr 45m) and Turin to Bologna (~2hr 15) for a final hop via regional train to the venue. Google states this route is about 13 hours, not too bad when the train driver is doing the hard work for you!

Once in Italy
If you've flown to Italy, you will be able to make use of Italy's excellent trains to get to the venue or nearby towns. Google Maps is up to date with these services, thus the best place to research. Note, Sunday trains are limited.

From the airport
You will normally only find taxis at the airport or in the bigger cities, and they can be pretty expensive compared to what you are used to. It may well be cheaper to arrange a pick-up from the airport rather than relying on finding a taxi on the day of arrival.

On the wedding day
Taxis are not common in this corner of Italy. If you're staying in a nearby town and reliant on a taxi, book well in advance. It is recommended you book well in advance.
Venice's Marco Polo Airport is about 1hr 30 minutes by car from the venue. Regular flights from London, Manchester, Leeds Bristol and Birmingham.

Verona's Villafranca Airport is even closer, just 40 minutes or so by car. The airport is a smaller, which means flights are less frequent, from London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Slightly further afield, though within reach of train/car, are Milan and Bologna.

Gifts

We understand travelling across countries isn't cheap, your presence is gift enough.

We have lived with each other for over five years, we aren't in need of the traditional gifts. Equally, transporting physical gifts to Italy would be as problematic for you as it would be for us taking them home.  We sincerely wish to reiterate your presence really is enough of a gift. However, if you would like to give anything, a contribution to the honeymoon fund would be greatly appreciated.  We are going to recreate the honeymoon of Lisa's parents. A tour of Italy by car. You are able to contribute online. The options below are of different values, the titles are just a fanciful suggestion of how we may spend the money on our honeymoon :-) Of course cash is equally welcome.
